Anonymous Announcement!

Ladies & Gents, Boys & Girls, may I have your attention, please?

There are about to be some changes happening around here!

One, I have made the decision to stop blogging anonymously.  Therefore, without further ado, I'd like to introduce myself:
My name is Rachael!

I've been thinking over the reasons that might be behind my blog not taking off like I'd hoped.  I've never been in love with all of the elements of "A Splash of Sass" together.  I liked the title, but didn't LOVE it. I felt like my sub-heading too broadly defined my blog, I was stretched too thin as far as what topics I felt I should be covering.  I didn't like being anonymous anymore, it made me feel isolated from the few readers I do have. So, here goes a new blogging experience as Rachael!

My second announcement is this: I'm Moving!
I don't want to totally cut ties with A Splash of Sass, but I need a fresh start.  Some of my posts will be coming with me, some will be staying here, so that occasional visitors will be able to find their way over to my new site, which I'm currently constructing.  I hope you will all join me over at Closet 12!

Back in Blue (10.10.11)

I've been absent from my blog for too long!  I know the shattered screen on my camera shouldn't be as worthwhile of an excuse as I've let myself make it out to be, but I want to post with original pictures as much as possible.  I've finally got ahold of my lovely boyfriend's camera, so I can snap away until mine is replaced (Santa, are you there?).  I'm also now out of the doldrums of underemployment, thankfully.  This is a two-fold blessing for my bloggy, since I'm not mopey about my job and I also have some cash to spend on new looks that I will be happy to talk about here.

Its a funny time of year here in Ohio.  We had a week or so of chilling rain which prompted me to go out and stock up on sweaters.  The weather then decided it wasn't finished with summer and it has been fairly warm and sunny ever since.  I've, therefore, been in this confusing place sartorially, since the thermometer demands short sleeves and airy fabrics but I want cozy fabrics in a subdued autumn palette.

I have a love of striped tops.  The Writer has to physically stop me from buying every blue and white striped top that I see.  Luckily, I got this one in the spring before he realized my "problem." Its not a silhouette I usually wear, which makes it even more fun!

What I'm wearing:
Tank & Mini Wedges: Target
Jeans: Gift from A, but originally from Charlotte Russe, I believe
Striped Top: Forever 21

This is actually a fairly budget friendly outfit, haha. The top from F21 was probably the most expensive item, and I seriously doubt that it topped $20.  I always feel a bit funny mixing red, white, and blue as if I'm suddenly patriotic, or something.

I did have the day off on Monday, not because of Columbus, but because I'm cramming all of my work hours into a training class during the latter part of the week.  I enjoyed a lazy day of sleeping in, meeting Spam for coffee, shopping, and possibly the highlight of my day, dinner with her family.  Her mom is an excellent cook! I was spoiled with cedar plank tilapia and grill steamed vegetable with fresh ciabatta bread. Mmmm! Wine and ice cream may have been involved as well, hehe. Waking up at six this morning was not an easy thing to do.

It's about me. Ok?

It's about lunchtime. I'm laying on my bed, sans sheets (they're in the wash), reading blogs and eating the Nerds that The Writer stashed in my purse for a movie last night.

All this to say, remember how I loved blogging? I do.

I stopped blogging for two reasons: 1) the storyline of my last blog ended and 2) blogging and keeping up with all of the blogs that I followed became extremely time consuming, so much so that it was hard to find anything to blog about other than blogs.

I suppose that both problems were of my own making.  First, I let my writing and life revolve around someone who didn't really belong in either.  I sometimes wonder if the blogs of my mil-wife/girlfriend friends affected the length of my last relationship.  Reading their stories filled me with a sense of destiny, even responsibility, to follow a certain life path because of the vocational choice that someone else had made.

That is not who I am.

I have been tentative in my return to the blog-o-sphere, but the itch to write has not gone away.  Perhaps it will be a tool of self-evaluation this time around.  While I love The Writer deeply and see our paths continuing in the same direction indefinitely, I need to retain a grasp on my own self and my dreams.

Adventures are on their way, I can feel it!

So, if you happen to stumble upon my blog, feel free to follow and comment all you want. But know this, it's about me and that's ok.
